Elliot Hospital in Manchester, home to southern New Hampshire’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), welcomes Dr. Khushbu Shukla. Elliot’s NICU treats babies who are transferred from other hospitals throughout the state—about two-thirds of the babies who are transported to Elliot Hospital are critically ill. Dr. Shukla brings extensive experience in neonatology and pediatrics to provide care for these patients.

As a Board-certified neonatologist, Dr. Shukla works with her team to care for newborn babies who are delivered at The Elliot and other hospitals from across New Hampshire, to provide emergency and follow up care for a variety of conditions. She said, “Elliot Hospital plays a pivotal role in emergency care for newborn children, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a vital resource for families in New Hampshire. I am pleased to join the stellar team of compassionate, expert physicians in the practice.”

Dr. Shukla completed her Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Brown University. She accomplished her Pediatric Residency at Driscoll Children’s Hospital at Texas A&M, and earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from University of Mauritius. She previously held teaching and fellowship roles at Brown University and University of Missouri School of Medicine. Dr. Shukla is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Perinatal Pediatrics.

“Providing excellence in care to our young patients and helping to educate and support families while they are experiencing a stressful event, are most important to me,” said Dr. Shukla. “It is a privilege to be able to treat our most vulnerable newborns, watch them grow and develop under our care and see them a few months later in the NICU follow-up clinic. Neonatology is a multi-disciplinary practice and it is great to watch different parts of medicine come together.”
