The relationship between The Elliot and Manchester Police Department has a long history and is important to the safety and wellbeing of our Elliot staff, providers, and patients, and the larger community that we serve in New Hampshire.
On August 12st, we were fortunate to have Chief Allen Aldenberg meet with Elliot Health System leadership and Emergency Management Committee to discuss:
- Collaboration between The Elliot and MPD, including an MPD officer on-duty in the Emergency Department 24/7/365
- Situations that his officers are encountering on the streets for our awareness, including the increase in violent crimes and trauma related incidents
- Behavioral health challenges that his officers are experiencing with the residents of Manchester
- Stress on his officers
Chief Aldenberg also spoke about the upcoming CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training The Elliot will soon offer to staff and providers.
From The Elliot, 22 people were in attendance, including Tate Curti, Martha Leighton, Dr. Holly Mintz, Dr. Kevin Desrosiers, Clyde Williams, and Dawn Fernald. Also in attendance were members of the Emergency Management committee: Emergency Management, Security, Safety, ED, Trauma, Facilities, Clinical Education and Prof. Development, Inpatient services, Risk Management, VNA of Manchester & Southern New Hampshire, and Northeast Rehab Hospital.
We’re pleased to continue our close partnership with the Manchester Police Department.
